13 July 2022, First Methodist Church, Mason City and Zoom.

August Event Business:

Checks and paperwork:

• $100 deposit that we get back if we do the checklist,
• $375 for the site.
• New insurance certificate with filled-in names was ordered this morning.

Facilities:

• Gym: 43 large round tables, 13 long tables, 247 chairs.
• Meeting room: has its own tables and chairs, has a kitchenette with full-size fridge.
• We’re also getting a vestibule room.
• Magnus is going to try to find a field shower.

Gate to close 2 pm. Sifrid will print more brochures for visitors. Keep an eye out for visitors and be hospitable. Gida invited the City Council to stop by when she was at the meeting. Juliana tweaking her site token idea because it needs to indicate that people have their covid clearance.

Royal Liaison:

• There’s plenty room for Them to stay in the privy chamber if desired.
• There’s an inn for breakfast and lunch.
• For royal largesse: they have plenty of leather bags, scroll covers.
• Largesse Derby – people bring multiples of a largesse item, in Gleann Abhean usually Crown judges (Chamberlain will check if they want to judge or we’ll just do populace choice), winner takes one of each of the entries and Crown gets the rest (maybe also letting each entrant pick a single item among the entries, too? )
• No thoughts on Court, yet. (Chalk in tentative 5 pm slot)
• Likely will need retinue help.
• Gida volunteers to Herald, and retinue after Troll closes.
• Bring goodies to put in a basket.

Do we want to make a donation to the Royal Travel fund? Gida suggests $50-$100…

Juliana warned Stasi about the event. Hasn’t heard back on her plans. Thomas is doing good with his treatments so far. Gida mentions someone should contact Thorir about the event (Sofya volunteers).

Signs: Do not enter (kitchen). Privy chamber. Common area. Gate/Troll. Restrooms.

Juliana still looking for the cool lunch trays. We’re low on inn supplies.

NW Contact group coming to help. Becca coming and trying to bring a friend. Will verify the power works for Amun.

Games: Goose, Kubb, shut-the-box, kid’s axe throw, cribbage, etc.

Suggest checking with the city clerk on the status of the park across the street in case of post-revel.

Pondering a fundraiser table… if we have enough people to have someone watch it.

A&S meeting for event planning purposes is back on – Zoom on the 27th because RAGBRAI is in town, Rune to host.

8 June 2022, First Methodist Church, Mason City, IA

Attending: William, Sifrid, Juliana, Rune, Tatiana, Sofya, Brigida, Berndt

Chronicler: we can have a newletter this quarter if we have submissions. Gida is hoping to get going on her research articles on royal dynasties.

Chateleine: no new demos.

Web Minister: he got a weird email from DreamHost claiming that we needed to pay a little too much money or we’d be shut down on the 25th, which didn’t make a lot of sense since the Kingdom is hosting us now. Our site is still up.

Heraldry: no new names, no new heraldry, working at Lilies Point for consultations.

Exchequer: via the Seneschal, we’re sure we have money. The Exchequer has a new camper.

A&S Meeting: next meeting cancelled for Lilies. July is RAGBRAI, so we should probably cancel A&S for that. August Richard III video vs silk painting.

Meeting Site: William signed a contract with the church – still free, put things back where we found them, notify of changes.

St. Augustine’s UnFaire – August 27th at the Park House, Amon tentatively planning to bring glass stuff. Archery at Lime Creek or Mohawk Archery.

11 May 2022, First United Methodist Church

Attending: William, Juliana, Avelyn, Sifrid, Sofya, Gida, Berndt, Gobban, Gwyn, Tatiana, Ben, Rune, Sophie

Chateleine: nothing new to report. Gida got to play chatelaine with someone who wandered by our event and has an interest in modern archery.

Herald: working with Runa and her child on their armory stuff, so that’s fun.

Chronicler: nobody has submitted anything yet. Hint, hint.

Exchequer: we have money.

Archery: we had archery and thrown weapons at our event, despite the weather!

Event Wrap-up: We just got the deposit back on our event site today, all $100 back, so they were happy with the condition of the site. $321 dollars brought in with event donations. Juliana says the inn donations should cover her receipts, a little over $100 by her calculations. Had a couple new members in the Cedar Rapids area show up.

Gida is going to look into the Osage Event Center for bigger kingdom-level events, but we like Antique Acres for regular-size events.

St. Augustine’s Un-Faire in August? at the Church?

A&S Meeting: stamping next time. Bring your stamps and Gida will bring paint/ink. No A&S meeting in June because of Lilies. In July, watch the Richard III: King in the Car Park video.

Web Minister: William reports a little spam on his seneschal account, but not too bad. We note that the Kingdom Web Minister has taken over the email management so if it gets worse we’ll have to take it up with them.

Rune is going to be making a big move in the next couple of months, so we’ll have to make alternate arrangements to get the key (or get a different meeting site) at that point.

13 April 2012, First Methodist Church

Our usual A&S meeting date on April 27th will be needed by the church. So that convinces us to decide to cancel this month to prepare for the event.

Event Business:

Troll: free-will donation, new covid sign-in sheet, waiver sign-in

We officially vote to rent the site for the Regional Archery Practice at the end of the month.

William has some devious new archery shoots planned – floating solo cups, small 100-arrows-shoot targets, melon shoot (aka mugs & jugs shoot?). Gobban is pondering his own ideas – maybe a string shoot, knock-down shoot?

William has fit 4 throwing butts into the event trailer for Gida, along with other supplies and loaner equipment. Gida is plotting and scheming.

Bring table games in case of crummy weather. Also bow/arrow/string-making. And thrown weapons class with the kiddie targets. Becca is bringing a loom.

Stasi probably won’t be there since Thomas has new medical issues. Juliana won’t be able to do stone soap Friday night without her help.

Simple breakfasts: breakfast runzaas, biscuits and gravy vs breakfast sandwiches, instant oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs, Gida to bring the Shire coffee maker for hot water in addition to the site one for coffee. Gida to bring some teas.

Lunch Inn: runzaas (beef & sauerkraut, BBQ chicken, pizza), beef stew and a veggie soup (in cups), cheese, carrots/celery, animal crackers with frosting. Feel free to bring deserts and side dishes.

Supper: fire pit for hot dogs/bring-your-own-meat/smores, Eric to make chili for chili dogs.

Buy: inn supplies, hots/buns (troll sign ups so we know how many to buy?), hot cocoa mix.

Publicity: William has talked to Vincent. Juliana planning to message the NW Iowa Contact Group, and post on Calontir FB, Calontir Archery FB, Thrown Weapons. Gida to post to Axed Root. Gobban to post to Couer d’Ennui, Dubuque.

Location: Zoom because of illness

New potential site -Antique Acres: $100 for Friday, $200 per day over the weekend, $100 cleaning deposit, nice free dumpster

The main building is roughly the size of the old green feast hall at the Fairgrounds, 60-75 seats. The kitchen area is great. There’s a “light” kitchen perfect for inn. Behind it is the “big” kitchen which has a huge commercial refrigerator, big stove, lots of stainless steel counters and sinks. Roasters, coffee makers, towels free to use. It has one stall each inside-handicap-accessible bathrooms. More bathrooms outside. No glitter allowed.

Unfortunately, this is the only fully enclosed building available. There is a small children’s toy storage/play area and a medium-sized open-sided picnic pavilion. Big camping area has electrical ($20/day) and tent sites ($10/day). Another big open area for fighting/archery/camping.

“Our” weekend is their power show, and then the weekends before and after are set-up and take-down.

Only first weekends of April and May is booked. All of June is booked. Only the middle weekend of July is booked. And August is the power show.

We note there is a rumor Melon Wars’ might be a challenge this year, so an emergency back-up event might be nice. So Gida will confirm if that weekend is free, and William will touch base with Flynthill’s seneschal to find out what we might be able to do to help.

9 February, First United Methodist Church

Attending: William, Juliana, Gobban, Rune, Tatiana, Sophia, Ben, Sifrid, Sofya.

Chatelaine: no news of demos, not going to worry about Hampton school this year.

MOY: going to help at Page School at Gulf Wars.

Herald: we have lots of room for new heraldry.

Chronicler: he hasn’t gotten enough submissions for a newsletter yet

Web Minister: our website is up, the officer emails have been transitioned to kingdom control.

Archery: no news on the indoor archery shoot this winter yet, hoping for the 20th but hasn’t heard back yet. We have bows and arrows – make sure your arrow tips are secure and reset.

Next month’s business meeting would be while people are traveling to Gulf Wars, so we vote to combine it with the A&S meeting.

Next month’s A&S will be carving fabric stamps. The one after will be stamping with the stamps.

Possible site: Antique Acres by Janesville? Their Power Weekend would be the weekend of our event.

8 December, First United Methodist Church

Chatelaine: no new demos, no new members.

Chronicler: get me articles if you want a newsletter in January – photos, articles (and officers reports).

Herald: we have names and heraldry, working on CJ’s name, Brodhir Hertvigssen (or maybe another byname).

Archery; no new news, we’ve got bows and arrows.

Event Site; Juliana toured the possible site that Jute found by Floyd, but it’s “no alcohol” and we aren’t guaranteed the whole site to ourselves. And the handicap bathroom is the janitor’s closet. And they’re not sure they can let us cook with their permit. Otherwise, the site is great.

Chatelaine: nothing new and exciting, demos few and far between with Covid.

MoY: there is a brand new Kingdom MoY, nothing new otherwise.

Exchequer: we have two checks out… one of the guilty parties is reminded. Nothing new.

Chronicler: if he gets enough material, he’ll put together a newsletter – hopefully in January.

Herald: we have heraldry, and names, and things.

Web Minister: the web page is still up. He hasn’t heard anything lately about the new officer email situation.

Seneschal: the new Society Covid policy is being considered at Kingdom, please review it and share your thoughts with Galen, Kingdom Seneschal.

Jutte lets us know she was just diagnosed with leukemia and will start chemo next week, so she won’t be at any meetings or events for awhile with her immune system. Juliana can get anything to her that we need to.
